Caring for the aged

Almost every fourth citizen of Glostrup is a pensioner, and the number of people over the age of 85 is increasing. This means that in the future, more and more citizens will require municipial services.

Glostrup Municipality is well prepared for this task. In a time in which lifespans are increasing and we have more elderly citizens, we are proud of being at the forefront of developments, both in relation to physical care for the aged and the more psychological aspects of well-being.

We have set a number of initiatives in motion which are designed to improve existing services and facilities for our senior citizens.

The new centre for the elderly on Sydvestvej, which was completed in 2006, encompasses 40 modern dwellings and complements the two existing centres. A number of the residents have come from the municipality's other residential homes, which can thereby be modernised.

Emphasis on total care
Municipial care, however, means more than just looking after practical matters.
There must be coherence in the services and activities that we provide. We do our utmost to ensure that our elderly citizens have a wide range of varied offers available to them.

There is plenty of lively activity at Dalvangen Centre for the Elderly. This is a vibrant linchpin in the life of the elderly, who meet here with old friends, eat meals together and keep each other up to date on what is going on in the municipality.
